In the first meeting of the historic Constituent Assembly on 28th May 2008 (15th, Jestha – 2065 BS) Nepal was declared a federal republic by ending a century-long monarchy. It is being celebrated every year on the 15th of Jeshtha according to the Nepalese calendar with various programs commemorating the historic day of the declaration of the republic state. In honor of the historic day, Nepal celebrates its 13th Republic Day.
